Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday
Blessed Resurrection Day!
He is risen.
He is risen, indeed!
Alleluia!
During the forty days of Lent, many church traditions refrain from singing "alleluia," "hallelujah" and/or "gloria." Sometimes called "Burying the Alleluia," this restraint is a way of recognizing the solemnity of the season and anticipating the glorious celebration of the resurrection. You may thus enjoy listening to a portion of Handel's Messiah today, "The Hallelujah Chorus" as we resurrect, or unbury, the hallelujah.
