The Temple
What did the temple look like in Jesus' time?
In Mark 13, the disciples are admiring the temple when Jesus begins to disrupt their thinking, discussing the destruction of the this earthly building as well as His own death. What do you imagine the temple of Jesus' time actually looked like? How big or small do you think it was? Was it the size of a football field or a large church?
Imagine you were sitting around with Jesus and he casually, or even seriously, mentioned that this magnificent building would be utterly destroyed. How might you have responded?

Whenever I see destruction of that magnitude, I have to think about what the people that put their heart, soul and back breaking labor into building it. When I see all of the destruction from wars and events of nature, it makes me sad. I guess my response to Jesus would be to ask for forgiveness for the people that made it their idol before him.
