Dear Grace Church,

True wisdom comes from above. We can be wise and learned in the ways of this world, but we must remember the Heavenly Wisdom is often diametrically opposed to the way the world works. True wisdom comes from a settled peaceful heart, worldly wisdom comes from bitter jealousy and selfish ambition.

This week Dennis will be preaching from James 4:1-12. In this passage we are given some ideas on how to interact with each other in a Godly

Dear Grace Church,

Controlling the tongue is a keystone habit in our lives according to James. He says our speech dictates our lives and the direction of our lives. Our choice is whether we are destructive or constructive with our words. Sometimes truthful words do damage others, but our words must damage for good not for evil.

 Sermon Series

This week I will preach on James 3:13-18. In this passage we are given a view of what true wisdom is and where it comes from. This v

Dear Grace Church,

Genuine faith works. It is our works that reveal the level of faith we have. We could never be saved by our works, but our works should change because of our faith. If we are different, then we are different. Our faith transforms us. We must take some time to look underneath our actions and understand our philosophy that drives our actions.

This week I will cover James 3:1-12. In this passage James tells us controlling our speech is

Dear Grace Church,

What are we seeking? It is normal to seek success or wealth or power. However, Jesus told us to seek first the Kingdom of God. This is challenging to do because the ways of the Kingdom do not always seem clear. The Kingdom becomes clear as we live out its standards. God calls us to live as we were intended to live.

 Sermon Series

This week I will get back to preaching through the book of James. I will talk about a faith that works in James 2:14-26. In this

Dear Grace Church,

Love is an often used, but little understood word. Love encompasses a conceptual realm that defies true definition. We are told that God is love. To understand love, we must understand that way God manifests his love. Jesus is that very manifestation. When we love others, we are operating in Godly ways. However, we must love God in order to love others.

Dear Grace Church,

Joy proceeds from the lasting salvation we have in Jesus Christ. In many ways, Joy is the opposite of a cynical attitude. The cynical approach to life clogs our ability to relish in the joy of the Lord. Cynicism is the mindset of culture and creates fear of allowing the emotion of joy from penetrating deep into our consciousness. Joy is salvation and salvation has come.

This week I will preach on love. Love is one of the themes of Advent an

Dear Grace Church,

When we are at peace in the world, we find that we lack peace with God. Lasting peace comes only through our continued relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus came to bring peace, but he did not come to reconcile us to the world. He came to reconcile us to God. We are at peace only when we operate within the Kingdom.

Sermon Series

This week I will be speaking on Advent joy. I will preach from Luke 15. Where does our joy come from? How can we have joy? Is C

Dear Grace Church,

Jesus is the hope of the World, and he is the guarantor of our hope for life. This hope we have is sure and solid. It allows us to endure any challenge that might face us. We do not simply endure through challenges; we find that in Christ we will thrive. We must look beyond the noise around us and remember the hope we have in Christ.

Dear Grace Church,

Thankfulness is an essential posture for the believer. This can be challenging because life circumstances can be difficult. The primary thing we should be thankful for is God’s hessid. This is God’s steadfast love, grace, and mercy towards His creation. He rescues and delivers us from our sorrow and pain.

Dear Grace Church,

Partiality is anathema to the Royal Law to love others as you love yourself. Partiality creates divisions and walls; the Kingdom of Heaven is unified under the love of God. God’s love is complete, and we operate in the Kingdom dynamics when we love others completely. Love is described well in 1 Corinthians 13. This passage is about how the church should love each other.

Dear Grace Church,

If we have been changed, then we have been changed. It can be a struggle for us to enact a new way of life in Christ Jesus, but the Holy Spirit is at work in our lives. We need to allow him to do the work on reforming us. The question we must ask is, “Do I really want to be different?” The cost can seem high, but peace and joy follow this change.

Dear Grace Church,

Sin has a way of growing in our lives until it brings about death. The start of sin is giving in to our own desires. Temptations are all around us, but we must fight against giving those temptations a place in our hearts. We are blessed when we walk in righteousness. The blessings flow living into the ways we created for us.

Dear Grace Church,

Tough times refine believers. We should be thankful for these times as they allow us to grow in Christ and be steadfast in our faith. Our faith must be challenged for us to strengthen it. The wisdom of the world is vastly different from the wisdom of God. We need to examine ourselves and pull of the weeds of false wisdom from our lives. Tough times help us understand our need for God’s wisdom.

Dear Grace Church,

It is critical we stay focused on Christ. The noise in the world would distract us and move us off God’s mission. False teaching is both a cause of and a result of a lack of focus. Be very cautious with people attempting to manipulate God’s word. Try to understand their motives behind their words. Often their words lack a true Kingdom understanding.

Dear Grace Church,

This week I will finish preaching through 2 Peter 3:14-18. This passage finishes Peter’s last letter, and it is a reminder of the need to stay steadfast and focused. It is easy to get distracted in life and lose our focus on the things that matter.
